Meet Our Staff
Mrs. Galarza was born in Mexico and came to the United States when she was seven years old. She graduated from Holy Redeemer High School (a parochial school in Southwest Detroit) in 2001. That same year, she married her husband, Hector. In 2010, her husband became the pastor at her church. So aside from her commitment to the education of children, she is very involved at her church and her community.
Mrs. Galarza obtained both her Bachelor degree in Elementary Education and Masters degree in Bilingual Bicultural Education from Wayne State University. She began her career as an educator at Hope of Detroit Academy in August of 2004. At Hope of Detroit Academy, she taught grades kindergarten through second grade. Eight years later, she became the instructional coach and coordinated the curriculum, instruction, and assessments across kindergarten through eighth grade. Following her position as the Instructional Coach for four years, she became the Assistant School Leader for three years.
Currently, Mrs. Galarza is the school leader at the Academy for Business & Technology Elementary. ABTE is located in Dearborn, Michigan and serves students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. ABTE has been in existence for over seventeen years. Mrs. Galarza has been involved in and has chaired several committees throughout her career. She served in various lead roles such as Ferris State University’s Contract Review, District and School Improvement Process, and AdvancEd Accreditation Process. She also held an important role in the Middle/High School Expansion Project, Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) team, Multi-Tier Systems of Support (MTSS) team, and Data Teams Process.
