Parent Involvement
Parents are an important part of the learning community at the Academy for Business & Technology Elementary School. Parent and community involvement in the educational process are paramount to increasing and maintaining achievement levels for all students. According to the Michigan State Board of Education Family Involvement Policy, "Studies demonstrate that when parents are involved in their children’s education, the attitudes, behaviors and achievement of students are positively enhanced." ABTE welcomes and encourages family and community members to share their resources, talents and time in order to aid the school in meeting its goals.
Parent-Teacher Committee (PTC) The Parent-Teacher Committee (PTC) is an organization run by parents and teachers with the aim of helping to improve students’ academic achievement and to enhance the extracurricular activities that the students are able to enjoy. This committee plans and organizes a variety of activities for student participation. Their main goal is to fundraise through monthly activities and to increase the involvement of parents in the school community. Money raised through these activities is typically used for the purchase of playground equipment, and to cover the cost of special events during the year (such as holiday events, Movie Nights, and the Year-End Family Picnic). |
