Tutoring
The Academy for Business and Technology elementary school is pleased to offer free after-school tutoring to students who need help in specific content areas. Generally, students are grouped with others who are having similar difficulties. Although occasionally students have the benefit of one-on-one sessions with a tutor, tutoring groups are kept to minimum size in order to be effective. Areas of remediation include basic math skills, reading and phonics -- writing skills are also covered in context with one of these other content areas. All tutors are either highly qualified ABTE teachers or staff.

In response to student needs and the requirements of the federal No Child Left Behind Act, as well as being a component of the ABTE School Improvement Plan action strategies, it is imperative to address student deficiencies and struggles early to allow enough time for improvement to take place. Our tutoring program is open to students in grades K-5. Prior to the MEAP assessment period in October, tutoring is offered on Saturdays, as well as on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but is limited to students in grades 3-5 who will be taking the MEAP test.
